2018 RAM 1500 vs 2018 Ford F-150

Proudly Serving Waynesburg, PA

The 2018 RAM 1500 and the Ford F-150 are two pickup trucks that stand out in the auto industry as well-designed and powerful vehicles. Both models have commanding exteriors and plenty of power on the road. Although both are similar types of vehicles, there are a few differences that can help you decide when truck to purchase.

Interior Features

The interior of the 2018 RAM 1500 is upscale and features premium materials that allow it to look similar to a luxury vehicle. With one of the nicest cabins in its class, it makes a great first impression with its rear view camera, satellite radio, and a 10-speaker Alpine audio system. It's also built with an infotainment system that is intuitive and is easy to navigate when adjusting settings without becoming distracted. Additional features include navigation, front and rear parking sensors, dual-zone automatic climate control, a sunroof, a USB port, and the voice-activated Uconnect infotainment system that offers two different sizes of screens.

The Ford F-150 offers plenty of tech features inside of the cabin, which includes a rearview camera and Dynamic Hitch Assist. Unfortunately, basic materials are used inside of the vehicle, which makes it appear to be less regal compared to the Ram 1500. The cabin features supportive, spacious seats in both rows. One of the drawbacks is the lack of standard safety features, which means you may need to be willing to spend more money to get what you want.

Consumer Reviews

Consumers favor the 2018 RAM 1500 for its stylish body, comfortable interior, and strong engine lineup. You'll forget you're riding in a pickup truck due to the luxurious features included and due to the smooth ride that is provided. It has plenty of swagger with a comfortable cabin that has plenty of storage options that are available.

Overall, the Ford F-150 doesn't make performance a top priority with its latest model, which is a problem for some drivers who purchased the car to tow and haul items while on the go. The exterior of the truck is sleek and modern but looks similar to its predecessor. Fortunately, the tech features make up for some of the drawbacks of the vehicle but aren't enough for some drivers to be fully satisfied with the purchase compared to the Ram 1500.

The 2018 Ram 1500 doesn't compromise on the amount of power that is offered with the car's performance, which boasts a V6 engine with turbo-diesel that is available for towing. It also offers plenty of acceleration with 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque from its V6 engine and 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque on the V8 engine that is available. By truck standards, the 1500 handles well and offers sharp steering and is poised when turns are made. Air suspension is also available and absorbs bumps and potholes in the road. The truck can even be lowered to make it easier to get in and out of the vehicle.

Unfortunately, the Ford F-150 can't match the diesel engine options available in the Ram 1500 and has less power and is agile when driving around town or if you drive on a winding road. The rear tires also become skittish when driving on broken pavement.
